It might sound unbelievable but shyness and/or public speaking phobia probably are the most common phobias around the world and yet people is not able to understand the frustration of people who struggle every day with these conditions.
There are many reasons why we label people as shy, and undoubtedly the most common one is when we see someone who doesn't mix up with the partners, classmates or people around them. Even though it does not always mean a person is shy we can deny it's pretty likely they suffer a certain degree of shyness which is probably affecting their lives. Contrary to people's beliefs shyness is often not a decision but a burden which people can't get rid of and puts a lot of frustration on shy people's shoulders.
As a person who knows what being shy really means and the handicap it can bring into your life; my best advice is: fake it 'til you make it. If you can really be outgoing and talkative just pretend to be. You don't need to start big, just start with one person you haven't really socialized with, not necessarily a person you just met, and let things flow. After all, they don't know how shy you are, and if things go the right way they might never find out.
